Tribon model goes to production

Postby m.minchev » Thu Sep 14, 2006 7:23 am

Do you remember what happened when you first time created your nice Tribon model and offered it to your colleagues at the production side? :D

Many will be eagel to hear your experience and how the link between Tribon and your production is organized now. No need to go in deep (or secret) details I think. Just an overall description of the work flow / documents flow, etc. :P

Hi there milko it took a year before this thread got one reply :D

Well the truth is, I’m still in my 2 years working in tribon (and don't know how will I say.) And I’ve found the bright side now and amm… I can’t say worst but difficulties.

I can’t forget the first drawing I made in tribon. That was a 3D modelled view of the vessel (per panel-block). As you know some small shipyards don’t need much of these drawings. It’s a waste of time for them and no use for construction (but indeed it was a great help for them to study how the work goes). After that, they slowly adopt and begun suggesting if you can do this, or that, asking if tribon can provide this or not. As a tribon modeller you will feel importance to your job and much more eager to work. It gradually plays integral part of the construction. I ended my career on that company for some reasons and opportunity to work abroad, salary increase, more interesting jobs and improving your skills and knowledge, specially working in a new environment. Figuring it out how they handle their work flows.

I move to a company where I can say Tribon is not yet implemented  You probably think how difficult of 2 or 3 who worked in tribon. People haven’t got proper introduction on what tribon can do. Needless to say production people don’t care about it.

Giving you a two months to complete the hull model and nesting is it a challenge or pain? but now I think they slowly putting more people. (I’m preparing also to handle internal trainings). I hope we can make it. Coz as what I’ve heard from other shipyard they moving out of trying to use tribon. (Tribon is somewhat difficult to start without a professional who can handle and a management who can support)

Tribon is extremely provides great support to production. In some extent, you wisely make some documentation and procedures. (Hull naming standard, outfitting standard, naming convention, documents on your components and equipments, modelling and drafting procedures, color codes, and proper training and most importantly, a quick discussion group to production people. (hull/piping/ project engineers) regarding how tribon may take part in the shipyard.

I think this is all…
It’s all about learning from a past experience. :)
sad to say aveva is no longer selling Tribon. if you contact them to purchase one, they will let you introduce to another software. we know already what is it... quite good but not suitable for beginners.

Cheeerrrsss…

Hi Mark,

Thank you for sharing your experience about Tribon implementation with us. I believe many Tribon specialists do it in similar way. I wish you great success in your further development in this area.
