Tribon Guides, Tips & Tricks

Create multiple outfitting modules using Vitesse script
Setting up a new Tribon project for the outfitting applications involves the creation of new outfitting modules. Boring job that has to be done. Skip it using this simple Vitesse code.

Accommodation module for Tribon M2 / M3 - the working example
Created for demonstration purposes at the very beginning of Vitesse, this code has been used for some projects afterwards. Now it is available as an open source.

Tribon DataBase superserver and subserver
Explains in human friendly language what Tribon superserver and subservers are. How Tribon applications access the corresponding Tribon data banks. Why it is important to keep the server's working environment clean from obsolete Tribon subservers and what Tribon database fragmentation is.

PDMS Guides by Marko Ervonmaa
Set of guides created by Marko Envormaa to help him understand the differences between modeling and drafting concepts and between Tribon Hull and Vantage PDMS Structural design. Considering the outfitting part of Vantage Marine is based on Vantage PDMS, we publish these articles and hope they will be useful for you.

Python modules - how do they work?
Tomasz Lisowski, the author of this article, is a certified Tribon Vitesse trainer and programmer. He worked for many years as the Tribon system manager, supervising large Tribon installations from version 3 (yet on OpenVMS operating system) to the latest Tribon Mx series. Recently, he worked as a Vitesse trainer, consultant and Tribon product specialist, providing support to the Tribon users. He was also the author of Vitesse applications used in some shipyards, and of the Tribon Vitesse training guides, written for AVEVA Solutions.

Tribon Pipe Resize/Respec.
Dragos Patilea introduces Tribon pipe Resize/Respec. modelling function

"Resize/Respec. function is a powerful one, but sadly not very often used by 3D modellers, due to pre-requests and its apparent behavior - random result. Actually this is wrong, you will see that below." - submitted by Dragos Patilea

Tribon Collision Control
In this article, Dragos Patiela introduces Tribon Classical Collision Control
"Collision control is important when user goes for detailed design and Tribon has this feature well developed.
In order to check for collision user should go for ...

Geometry macro syntax highlighter for ConTEXT editor
Tomasz Lisowski kindly provides this script to all Tribon users free of charge.
Some notes from the author:
" Tribon Geometry macros are still used, e.g. for creating custom clips and cutouts in Hull, or volumes in Drafting. I believe, that there are still developers that are writing code in this macro language. I am using the ConTEXT text editor (freeware), which has nice syntax highlighting features. The ConTEXT editor can be found at http://www.context.cx This editor has many other nice features for programmers. It has also a built-in support for very basic project management, and syntax highlighting for Python language (Tribon Vitesse!).

I am giving my Geometry Macro highlighter free of charge :-) to all Tribon users visiting this wonderful forum. Feel free to modify it according to your taste.
I would, however, appreciate, if you don't remove my name from the Description field of the highlighter

Best regards, Tomasz "

Installation instructions - download the script (highlighter) and store it in ...\ConTEXT\Highlighters subfolder.
If ConTEXT is running, restart it to update the list of external highlighters.

Tribon Structure Parts List using Vitesse
Dragos Patiela kindly provides this script to all Tribon users free of charge
Some notes from the author:
"Below you may find the compiled code (DisplayStructPartsList.pyc) and a short header (Disp.py) of a small program (already ver. 1.21!), written in Vitesse and having as main aim the retrieving of structure parts information from db’s. In fact code extracts parts information from indicated structure and displays it into the drawing.

Please note the code is free and is not implying any commercial hidden aspects. It was made for fun, during my spare time, and can be a good example of a simple but useful Vittese application. In fact it can be written by anyone having just a drop of programming skills.

Enjoy! Dragos Patilea"
